This month has been pretty crappy for me, but things are looking up, so I hope to post some stuff I can be proud of soon. I sort of hate blogging photos on an art blog...originally I wanted to post more drawings to go with the photos, but they're all over the place right now. This trip was pretty amazing, especially for a west coast girl. I was in awe of all the colors. I really miss being in nature, and the beauty of North Carolina and the Appalachian mountains really inspired me to work on my other projects.
I had an urge to sing a really loud Roscoe Holcomb song off this cliff, but I was too busy trying to not pee myself.
the view from up there
beautiful trees
look at these colors...
...and these!!
new home
Sandra said it looks like I'm standing by a giant bird.
UuU
This made me so happy. I wish the sign said something better though.
actual happiness
Ok...here's one of my favorite parts from the trip...it took all day, and was well hidden, but we managed to find Tom Dooley's grave!
The little off-road path leading to Tom Dooley's grave
There is a whole story about how we found this. More on that later! And oh, if you only know the story of Tom Dooley from the Kingston Trio, I say you give Grayson and Whitter's version a try...I think it's better.
Also, I know some know-it-all is gonna tell me it was "Tom Dula" and not "Tom Dooley," but most people know him by the name "Dooley" first.
A wooly worm! We saw a lot of these guys. I wanted to go to the Wooly Worm Festival, but we missed it.
in the forest, we found a weeny waterfall
We went in a cave and found a little bat. He was no bigger than a chicken nugget. We also visited "Mystery Hill," which is kind of like a roadside attraction with hillbillies.
OK!!!!! Are you ready for the scariest thing you will ever see in your life??? Courtesy of Mystery Hill, which I don't believe has been tended to since 1960 or so.......
YAAAARRRGH!!! So creepy!!
extra creep
Pretty. This is actually in Pennsylvania, though. I have more graveyard photos that are really cool, but I wasn't sure I should post them here. If you want more beautiful photos of North Carolina and Pennsylvania, I've got a whole mess of them on my Flickr. Here are some wimpy tree "studies" from the trip. I'm gonna draw some landscapes and nature stuff for real, soon.

Coming soon!!
CATS (the frame is photoshopped >__<)
and HILLBILLY GIRLS Come back soon!
OK, now to post all the photos from my Christmas Tahoe vacation that I meant to post earlier!
Ugh, I can't believe I actually lived here. I miss it! I miss actual seasons!!
Snow on the beach! So cool! I remember coming to this beach to eat sandwiches with pals instead of going to school.
Nice wintery colors!

I saw this cool shack on the way home. It's tradition for my dad to make the 8 hour driving trip to come pick me up, bring me up, then bring me back down again. It's fun though, cause we get to sing Christmas carols all the way. The rest of these photos were taken on the drive down. I missed a bunch of great 60's motels and stuff when I fell asleep for about an hour. Damn!
More awesome shack action! The only thing that's too bad is that my camera failed to capture some of the beautiful colors of the mountains and shrubs. The bushes were amazing shades of turquoise and maroon and lavender, and the mountains went from blue to grey to green to even mustardy browns.

When I saw this sign, we had to stop to investigate! What an awesome restaurant name!EAT!The building was abandoned and super run down, but someone was obviously there because we also found...
PUPPIES!!! YESSSSS!!!
Here's about when we got into LA...the last pretty thing I will see for a while!Extra bonus- I got into some mischief while in Nevada...I posted some highschool idiocy on my other blog, so click HERE to see, or click the photos!
Hey, I hope you guys had a great 2007, and that 2008 will be even better! Thanks to those who still check my blog, even though I've been bad about posting lately! More on the way soon!
