More Post-Its

Some more post-it doodles, this time with France Gall obsession. I have a bunch of Francoise Hardy and Sylvie Vartan post-its too, but I'm saving them for something!

Some more doodles! Not very good caricatures, but she's tough to draw.

As a treat, here are some YouTube videos that send romantic shivers up my spine:

Those Darlins fanart (+ 100th post)

So when I did my hillbilly drawings post last month, Baby Pop alerted me to this really cool band!

Those Darlins are a three-girl band, Nikki, Kelley, and Jessi. Their songs are great and all three girls are extra cute and charismatic! I was inspired to draw and sing as soon as I saw their page.

I suppose anyone who reads my blog a lot knows what a huge old country music fan I am, so you can imagine how cool it was to find the music page of these gals.

I wanna do more drawings of these girls! Maybe I will post some more soon! I wonder if I should try and send some fanart their way. Too nerdy? What do you guy think? I'll probably do it anyhow.

Hooray for girls who sing country music!

Go visit them!!! They're awesome!!
DO IT!!!

P.S. 1ooth post! Yippee!

Hillbilly friends

I have always been obsessed with Hillbillies and southern culture! Something about it is fascinating as well as disturbing and scary. I love the myths, the look, the architecture, and especially the music.

The drawings of the men and animals are a bit feeble but as you guys probably know, I'm not real comfortable drawing things besides girls. But if I'm gonna do a hillbilly project one day, I can't just draw girls! I have a million ideas that I want to do.
Maybe I'll post them soon and get your guys' opinions!

Other great hillbilly things that I love: Banjos, the Carter Family, murder ballads, the Blue Fugates of Kentucky, the word "Appalachia," coal miners, scary Jesus songs, fiddles, that weird kid from 'Deliverance', moonshine...the list goes on and on!

Good books and websites with stories and info on Appalachian culture are somewhat hard to find. Anyone know any good ones? This one is really cool: http://www.hillbillysavants.org/

Oh yeah, I have Rex Hackelberg to thank for these new doodles...I was looking at his site a lot that day and was super inspired to draw animals and funny weirdos. Thanks Rex! I had a momentary break from my awful rut!

I'd love to go on a tour of the Appalachian mountains someday, but I'm too chicken to really do it. Probably most of it is too modernized to be fun anymore, and if I go digging around in the woods I might get eaten by hillbilly cannibals or something.

P.S.

Speaking of hillbillies...Kali and I are planning on making our very own country/rock 'n roll CD soon! Kali is a really good guitar player, and we both love singing old songs so it'll be fun. Once in a while you gotta try doing new things instead of what yer used to!

Anyhow, some rough doodles I did of Kali and I singing in different country styles:

We will probably end up putting up songs online, if anyone would actually like to hear!
I'm sure Kali will say more on the matter at some point- she's the one who knows more about this stuff!

THE GREATEST INVENTION IN THE WORLD!!!

BUT FIRST...

Lady readers of FunnyCute, what do you wear to bed??

THAT'S RIGHT!!
A new trend is sweeping the nation!!!

OK OK...

I guess I should explain...this thing isn't really called a "sleep sack." I don't know what it's actually called cause if I did, I would post a photo from the net of this wonderful product. When I lived in Nevada, the winter nights would get cold! My mom had this weird pajama/sleeping bag thing, and I stole it for myself! It was so toasty and warm and stupid looking! Everyone should have one, but I can't find anywhere to buy them! Arrgh! I will try to explain why this awful looking thing is so great:

The sleep sack is indeed an amazing thing.

You can even suck your entire body up inside it for ultimate coziness!

But the real reason I like the sleep sack...
Cause it makes me feel like a flying squirrel.

Another new obsession

I'm obsessed with beautiful French pop singers from the 60's! Maybe this isn't new for you, and I'm retarded for not already knowing all about these girls by now, but that's how it is...someone mentioned the name "Sylvie Vartan" and when I googled it I discovered one of the cutest people ever. I can't remember who it was who mentioned her...please come forward so I can thank you!

Anyhow, here are Sylvie doodles, drawn mostly from wonderful videos of her that I found on YouTube. I'll be posting my favorite ones on my other blog later tonight probably!! She's so great! She's got great teeth! This black and white drawing below is terrible...I like the colored one, though.

After looking up Sylvie, I searched for other French cutes, and found Francoise Hardy. She's so beautiful! These drawings don't do her justice at all!

All the interesting angles on her face are hard to capture! I'm sorry Francoise!
Francoise has good teeth too, and makes really pretty and unique mouth shapes when she's singing.

I found France Gall too. She's wonderful! So cute. I have a list with a million names to look up- 60's singers from France, Spain, etc...It'll take me forever to memorize all their songs and dances! If you are into 60's pop and ye ye girls, then please send me some recommendations!

Beautiful Miss Gall...how can I smile and look serious at the same time like you do?

Love love love. Go see how wonderful these girls are on my other blog, ok?

P.S. I know a lot of people aren't interested in seeing my practice drawings, but for now that's all I'm gonna post...I'm keeping my fun stuff secret!
