Dive bar doodles

Going to local dive bars (the quieter ones) and drawing is a nice after work activity. I like the girl in the upper right corner.

Part of me wants to do some finished/polished art, but it's hard to get motivated to do it. With new work and a lot of life changes, just drawing is hard to do sometimes. Hopefully soon I'll take a break from messy sketchbook stuff, even though it's the most fun stuff to make.

Weird coloring! I colored the ones I liked more blue in the hope that they'd stand out kind of. Oh, by the way, I am feeling better now. ^u^

Here's an extra treat: an online-digital-midnight jam comic I made with Pen Ward. He did the first panel, then I did the second one, etc etc. Lotsa fun! Thanks Pen.

Thanks for reading! Time for sleeeeeeeeep...

Conan the Barbarian

I love Conan the barbarian!!

I love him so much, I even went into my no-comfort zone and tried drawing some manly men.

Poor Baby Conan! There is a lady who doesn't belong on the page with him.
That's not why he's sad though.

Some of these pages have really crappy drawings on them, but I think they're kind of funny. I colored the ones I liked in an attempt to trick people into not noticing the really doofy ones.

A palette cleanser: Conan's super hot mom...

Another sketchbook page...this one has cultist girls with sexy diapers, and a lone Subotai as well.

Most of these were drawn while watching the movie, but a few are from images I found online. Drawing from the TV is really fun! I don't do it that much. I want to do it a lot more.

Some more really dumb Conan drawings, and some of Valeria too. She's hard to draw.

More Valerias and scary witch ladies.

Here's the last page of Conan movie doodles. Subotai is there too, as well as Thulsa Doom, and Thorgrim, who is one of my favorite guys in the movie (he's the blonde one with the cool bangs). I love that guy. I gotta watch this movie again and concentrate on all his scenes.

Luna is in there too! Appropriate.

Also, I've been thinking about pulling out some of my old comic roughs I did a while ago and finishing them up when I have time. I have a couple comic projects I want to get started for real, but the one that revolves around my highschool buddies is gonna come so natural to me to draw I think, that it'll be a good way to sharpen my comic-making claws.

The look of the characters in it changes all the time...here's how they look at present.

Here's one more of Christine:

What do you guys think? It seems a bit self-centered to do a semi-autobiographical comic to me, but since it is mostly making fun of how horrible we were back then, I'm not worrying too much.

If you like these designs, click on my "pals" label, or search "highschool" on my blog. I've got tons of drawings of these girls, as well as a couple comics.

Thanks for reading, as always! (^u^)/

So cool

Hey, check out this commission I just got from
Shawn Dickinson!

I love this guy's drawings, and since he is one of the best when it comes to funny cats, I had to get one of Luna and Babycat. This thing is huge in real life, too! Shawn draws all sorts of cool stuff, and he's taking commissions right now, so take a look at his blog!

This awesome Skadi drawing came unexpectedly with my comission, too! :D

Also, Andy Ristaino nominated me for a Kreativ Blogger Award! Thank you Andy!

YOU'VE WON THE KREATIV BLOGGER AWARD!
That means somebody on the interwebs likes what you're doing! Keep it up!
IF there is someone who has been blogging and you want to give them an award for doing so, please do! (not limited to blogger accounts)
IF you don't want to do anything of the sort, then don't!
IF you want to you can use the image in the blog post as the "award" or you can design your own.
I guess tell them you gave them an award if you did.
PLEASE edit the parameters as you see fit.

Here are the "rules" for the Kreativ Blogger Award:

1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link the person who has nominated you for the award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting. (I skipped this one)
5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on which of the blogs to let them know they have been nominated.

Like Andy said, it's a bit of a chain-letter type thing, but since it's a nice way to tell people you like their blogs and get links passed around, I say it's a-ok! There are tons of amazing blogs that I check all the time, so it was hard to only choose 7, but here they are:

Rebecca Dart- She draws everything I love...kitties, barbarians, illustrations for scary country songs...and she's truly amazing at it.

Pedro Vargas- One of my all time favorite blogs! I love everything this guy draws. And he animates too!

Kristen McCabe- So good...Kristen is super creative and funny, and her drawings are beautiful and always interesting.

Miss Withers
- She's doing these crazy fashion-y paper cut out dolls right now that I love...and her paintings are really cool and haunting!

Brie Hermanson
- This girl is talented and funny and weird and awesome. I'm excited every time she updates!

Kristy Gordon
- Kristy's paintings are breathtaking and beautiful and really stick in your head for a long time and make you keep thinking about them. O__O

Seo Kim
- Seo has a lovely style that's really unique. She can draw amazingly well, and also has an eye for beautiful color and design.

Wow, I nominated almost all girls! Sorry guys!

I'll probably be putting up some Mighty B stuff soon, unless I somehow manage to do some new art. I've been stuck in another terrible rut, and the only things I've drawn are for projects or work that I'm not allowed to show. Thanks everyone who left me feedback on my last post! I think I'll post some more close up drawings from Skadi again at a later time! :D

Coming soon:

Weird drawings of disheveled pretties

****EDIT!****

For some reason, my latest blog posts are screwed up, and you weren't able to click the photos to see the drawing bigger, which is retarded. I'm not sure why that happened, since I uploaded the drawings the same way I always do. I fixed the ones on this post, anyhow...back to the post:

Drawing has been fun the last week or so. I've been able to actually think about all the comics and projects I want to do, and make some progress on them. Usually I get overwhelmed with the feeling I'll fail at trying new things on my own, but recently I haven't really cared about that and have just been drawing because it's fun.

These drawings are of my friend Kathryn, who I went to Highschool with.

I'll probably limit how much stuff I post from the comic I'm working on, at least until I make more progress on it, but here are some doodles of me trying to figure out a simple design for a wild, child-of-nature sort of girl. The first ones are wimpy but I like some of the later ones.

I should add that there's a heavy Shane Glines and Christophe Blain influence here!

I kind of want her to look as though she's thrown off her dress and is running around in a slip.

These ones above are super weird!!

I kinda like her with the crazy hair...what do you guys think?

Here's another doodle page.

I liked how this one came out:

I've been drawing from lots of old photos, and at the early part of the century, it seemed a lot of people had the same eye problem as this little girl. I didn't think it took away from her cuteness, but added a weird sadness (seriousness? I'm not good with words).

Ok!! Besides new drawing, I have some neat stuff to announce.

1. I'll be putting up a new print, and maybe some new original art for sale on my Etsy store soon!

2. Dumm Comics is undergoing a big change...Ricky is now doing Nightmare Theater 3 times a week! His comic is amazing, and everyone should bow down and be grateful that he's taking the time to entertain everyone 3 times as much. Also, the new schedule means that Skadi has been moved to Thursday, instead of Wednesday.

3. GO FOR THE GOLD 3 is ready to order! GFTG3 is a big anthology of sketches from various artists, and I am happy to say I am a part of it! There's some stuff in there I haven't posted, so please take a look! The list of wonderful artists who contributed is long, so click the link to the Meathaus site and check them out yourself!

Seeya around!

kitty komick and other crap

People seemed to like the comic I did about Luna and Ricky last month, so I made another one. You'll probably have to click it to make it look ok. This happened the other day:

I did some more profile doodles from my current favorite reference book, "Least Wanted". If you have any interest in scary and bizarre looking people, you need this book!

I also took a break from work and drew some pretty faces off of Facebook. These are all talented and funny girls, some of which I'm lucky to have met in person, and others I hope to someday.

Some Taras, a Lindsay, some Mollys, a Becky, and another Emmy. These aren't very accurate- I was kind of in a work induced daze when I did these.

and a spatula wielding Christine!

Thanks for looking! (UuU)

Moongirls

Bleeeeeeehhhhhhh

I'm sick, and very very tired.
>__<

I will post some Moongirls, from the sci-fi show UFO before I get back to work...I like these notepad ones:

(edit: I just noticed the freakish long arm I gave this girl...oops...)

Before I drew the notepad ones I did these way-too-serious drawings.

The main girl has a funny face- it's super cute from some angles and a bit goofy from others. She's still beautiful, of course.

I still haven't seen this show...just stills on the internet. Next time I'm on work hiatus I'm gonna watch them all!

I loooooove this girl's face:

Man, what a cool looking show! There's another girl who wears this getup, but I didn't like the drawings I did of her.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

My friend Sandra is gonna have a little boy soon! Like, really soon...10 days or so! Sandra is funny and nice and pretty and she draws cute stuff and I like her very much. I made her this card for her baby shower.

I made this at work the other day, it's Baby Ricky's double stink attack. It's not that accurate though- I actually don't mind his kitten breath, and his farts usually smell kind of like hay and aren't that bad. Pretty much everything he does is cute to me though.

Go Baby Cat go!!

Petting Zoo Comic

I finished it early! That means I do studio work all day tomorrow. AND I learned that it takes about 5 times longer for me to color in Photoshop than it does in Flash or with marker. No more Photoshop coloring until I learn how to do it the easy way.

Anyway this comic is a true story!

Em swears she didn't say "I'm not responsible for this!!!" but I totally remember hearing it, and since it's funny to me I kept it in. I'm sure she'll chew me out later.

If you enjoyed my insipid story, I have older posts with my high school friends as well!
Meet them here!

And here are some drawings I did right after the petting zoo incident took place.

And here’s a comic about a dream I had with some of my HS buddies.

Some more fun: here is the photo taken of Em, 6 seconds before she got yelled at and fell off of the poo barrel. I wish I'd taken one of the aftermath, but I was pretty flustered.

Don't kill me, highschool friends!!

I'm tired...goodnight!

Just some stuff

Lotsa work lately...not much time for doodling. So here's some little things.

BUT FIRST! Happy Birthday Nico! I meant to get this up earlier, before midnight, but I failed. I hope your day was great!!

And second- thanks for all the comic suggestions and interesting comments for my last post! I am definitely going to look into them. Also, thanks to those who pointed out that Lewis Trondheim has a larger part in the Dungeon comics than I initially gave him credit for. I am already on the hunt for his personal comics! Actually I'm pretty comic-crazy right now.

OK, some drawings!

A while ago Sean Worsham was nice enough to buy a drawing from me off of eBay, and as an extra thank you I sent a little doodle of a girl. I always kind of liked the extra drawing, so recently I inked it and colored it up with marker, then played with in photoshop. The wood stuff is inspired by my pal Miss Mindy, who does amazing art with wood and paint! I can't paint, and I don't know how to cut wood, so mine is just a scanned cheat in photoshop. Thanks Sean for saying I could post this!

I like my friends. Here are two of them, drawn at work:

SANDRA!

MARLO!

Hi Sandra and Marlo!

OH ALSO I got a new haircut. My old haircut looked very serious and boring, and I didn't like it. My bangs were too long and I couldn't see anything. I got them chopped and now I feel happier.

Ok that's it!
